Explore Consciousness
In spirituality, consciousness is seen as a fundamental, universal awareness or divine light that underlies all existence, going beyond the limited ego to perceive unity, truth, and the soul's essence, often achieved through practices like meditation to transcend the physical self and realize interconnectedness with the cosmos. It's the knowing that you are a spiritual being, not just a body, leading to states of bliss, unity, and profound insight, moving from individual awareness to a higher, universal consciousness (like Christ Consciousness or Cosmic Consciousness).

In the past, consciousness meant one's "inner life": the world of introspection, private thought, imagination, and volition. Today, it often includes any kind of cognition, experience, feeling, or perception. It may be awareness, awareness of awareness, metacognition, or self-awareness, either continuously changing or not.
