“And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.”

Why do Muslims knell when they pray?

In Islam, the act of prostration (called Sujud) is considered the pinnacle of the prayer (Salah). Lowering oneself to the ground strips away human ego and pride. It is a physical declaration that God is the Greatest, and that the worshipper is entirely dependent upon Him.

During Sujud, Muslims are required to touch seven specific parts of the body to the ground: the forehead, nose, both hands, both knees, and the toes. This specific posture is believed to bring the believer closest to God spiritually.
